As our Cloud Software Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain the backend infrastructure behind our AI platform that is transforming how the world consumes energy.
What you’ll do
Design and implement scalable backend services: Develop APIs, distributed systems, data collection and aggregation tools that power our autonomous platform.
Architect robust and secure systems: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design cloud-native architectures focused on performance, observability, and security.
Maintain and monitor infrastructure: Support reliable cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform, and ensure uptime and system health across deployments.
Prototype and launch cloud features: Drive the rapid development of backend features that integrate into our building automation stack.
Collaborate in agile teams: Work with product, design, and engineering teams in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Advocate for engineering excellence: Champion clean code, SOLID principles, and best practices in software development. Build with a focus on security, observability, and scalability.

You must have
- Proven experience:
- 3+ years of backend software development in a professional setting.
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience developing backend web services (any language; Swift, Go, Rust, etc. are a plus)
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or cloud provisioning (Terraform, AWS, GCP, etc.)
- Working knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and SQL.
- Comfort instrumenting and monitoring production systems.
- Exceptional communication skills: Strong written and verbal ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Organized and strategic: Experience in managing complex backend systems and deploying scalable solutions.
- Collaborative mindset: Enthusiastic about working in a team-focused environment to shape system design.
- Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, eager to learn, iterate, and innovate.
- Problem solving: You own this role. When issues arise, be the empowered force that solves them, rolling-up.
You should have
- Deep interest in technology: Keen on distributed systems, autonomous platforms, and scalable cloud infrastructure. Self-motivation, a passion for technology, and a strong drive for results and continuous improvement.
- Natural love of backend systems: Curious about how data flows from devices to insights.
- Experience managing cloud deployments: Familiar with AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, or Terraform.
It’s helpful to have
- Experience with: Server-side Swift (e.g., Vapor)
- Experience with: GitLab pipelines or similar CI/CD systems.
- Knowledge of: PostgreSQL tuning or schema design.
- Previous experience with: Deploying production applications in GCP or AWS environments.
